Background

The IT designs of the next 30+ years will be on reducing server software licensing, management complexities and support costs while increasing security and performance optimizations at all levels.

  • Simplified freeware license model. Full functionality SharkSQL server, client licenses are free. Simply download, install & run
  • Subscription model will be available in the production release for support. Consulting and Training Services are also planned to be available from both SharkSQL and its strategic Partners
  • Multi-platform, single code base – OpenVMS (X86-64, IA64, Alpha), Windows (X86-64), Linux X86-64 (future)
  • Binary compatible between different OS platforms. Copy SharkSQL database from source to target server, make OS specific config changes on target server and run application
  • True distributed DB engine with embedded two-phase commit (2PC) provides distributed database consistency. No complex external utilities or tools, no more “eventual” data consistency, no “additional” license requirements
  • Fully supports VSI OpenVMS multi-site, high availability, active-active clusters. No database sharding required
  • Supports wire protocols for MariaDB,  MySQL, Connectors & Interfaces. This enables SharkSQL and services to function as drop-in replacements for MariaDB, MySQL databases allowing existing clients, drivers, and BI tools to connect with few modifications
  • SharkSQL HQ based in central EU (Austria), high focus on GDPR compliance, data privacy, data protection and data security 
  • Increased security – optional SharkSQL Client feature offers tcpip data packet level encryption vs. traditional tcpip session TLS/SSL encryption. While still maintaining high performance, this feature uses a key based on a quantum mechanical eigenvalue equation to significantly increase security, reduce management and other concerns associated with 3rd party vendor provided certificates
  • Security – DB Admin can not modify audit logs, additional security features available that far exceed SQL standards
  • Simplified developer environment. Easy to install, configure, use and manage high availability and resilient distributed databases – even for new developers and database admins
  • Very high performance (out of the box) compared to other commercial databases. Reduces need for complex tuning processes of internal DB parameters
